In Luke 6:27–36, Jesus calls His disciples to love their enemies, do good to those who hate them, bless those who curse them, and pray for those who abuse them. This command exposes our instinct to retaliate and points us back to the mercy of Christ, who loved us while we were still enemies of God. Because Jesus has reconciled sinners and transferred them into His kingdom, His people are called to reflect the mercy of the Father in their words, actions, and treatment of others.
